RIVERBEND DEFEATS MASSAPONAX, 40-25

Riverbend remained undefeated with a 40-25 victory over Massaponax on Friday night at Massaponax High School.

The Bears led 14-7 after the first quarter and carried a 20-17 advantage into halftime. Riverbend took control during the third quarter, scoring 14 unanswered points to extend its lead to 34-17.

Both teams scored during the fourth quarter, producing the 40-25 final.

Riverbend improved to 3-0. Massaponax fell to 1-2.

COURTLAND DEFEATS ORANGE COUNTY, 28-6

Courtland earned a 28-6 victory over Orange County on Friday night.

The Cougars’ defense limited Orange County to six points as Courtland secured another victory during the early portion of the high school football season.

FLUVANNA DEFEATS CHANCELLOR, 58-19

Fluvanna County defeated Chancellor 58-19 on Thursday night at Fluvanna.

The Chargers scored 19 points but could not overcome Fluvanna’s high-scoring offense.
