Speed Cameras are now operational around Massaponox High School. Warning Ticket Period Is In Effect

NOTICE: School zone speed cameras located outside Massaponax High School at 8201 Patriot Highway are now operational with a warning ticketing period underway. Warning period ends on Sunday, January 18th and live ticketing begins on Monday, January 19th. Clarifications about the automated speed enforcement program in school zones:

Enforcement occurs during school hours when students are going to and from school as indicated by the yellow flashing lights in the following school zones:

Battlefield Elementary School, 11108 Leavells Road

Battlefield Middle School, 11120 Leavells Road

Courthouse Road Elementary School, 9911 Courthouse Road

Livingston Elementary School, 6057 Courthouse Road

Massaponax High School, 8201 Patriot Highway

Salem Elementary School, 4501 Jackson Road

If schools are closed, cancelled, have a delayed opening or early release, speeding citations WILL NOT be issued to drivers even if yellow flashing lights are present. Spotsylvania County Public Schools makes every effort to disable school speed limit flashing lights during closures to avoid confusion, however, this may not be possible in every single instance.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office works closely with the system vendor when schools are closed to ensure no speeding tickets are issued by mistake.
