In a statement on his Facebook page Barron Braswell concedes to Chris Yakobowski after the Recount. This is now the closest election in Spotsylvania County history. Barron congratulates Chris and promises to get together to talk about the future of the county.
I wish to tell you that the closet election in Spotsylvania County is now over. I came up short by 16 votes with over 7,834 votes cast or .2% difference (4 votes per precinct-every vote matters) between the two of us. I reached out to Mr. Yakabouski tonight to officially concede the election and to congratulate him on winning a hard-fought campaign. He was exceptionally gracious to me and we both agreed at some point after the Christmas holiday season to discuss the future of our great county. I want to personally thank all of my supporters who either voted for me, offered donations to operate my campaign or just encouraged me along the way; I greatly appreciate you. I want to thank my family for their love and support as well. They endure a lot while I’m on the campaign trail; I love them immensely for allowing me to pursue my passion. I would like to thank all of those on our elections board for all of their hard work and dedication to duty. I mentioned at the conclusion of our recount proceeding that all of them were exceptionally professional and dedicated to the task at hand. Our electoral system works and it was displayed by our electoral board and those appointed to represent both the Democratic and Republican Parties. Everyone was sold out to ensure that the will of the voters in the Battlefield district was accurately conveyed. As for me, I’m awaiting God’s leading in how to best glorify his name. Have peace my friends and Merry Christmas to all.
