In a rare Sunday session Senate Representatives plus 8 moderate Democrats were able to reach the 60 votes needed to start the process to end the Federal Government Shutdown. The shutdown is now the longest in American history starting it‘s 40th day.
The 60-40 vote was a procedural vote to forward the bill that came over from the House of Representatives. The Senate will of course add amendments before the final bill is voted on by the full Senate. It goes back to House to debate the Senate version of the bill and is voted and only them will it go to President Tump‘s desk for his signature or vetoed.
