The Spotsylvania County School Board called earlier this week for a special open and a closed school board meeting  for this afternoon at 4:30 pm to discuss the final two candidates for a new Superintendent. To start the meeting the board voted to certify the numerous closed sessions  the School Board had to discuss the candidates they interviewed. The vote was 5-2.  10 minutes into the open meeting Chairman Twigg motioned the meeting into closed session they just voted 6-1  for the the closed session.  The open public meeting will reconvene when they are finished with their business. 

At 5:15 pm it has been more than 30 minutes and the board is still in closed session. No indication when the public meeting will start again.

Just to remind our readers on January 11, 2022 the Spotsylvania School Board in a 4-3 vote fired then School Superintendent Dr Scott Baker. He had already announced resignation effective the end of the school year. That was the night that New School Board Chairman Twigg called the board into closed session to discuss Dr Baker's  role. Controversy broke when it was mentioned that no motion was made.

At 6:20 pm the Open Session has started again.
