Supervisor Gerald Childress Resigns From The Board Of Supervisors

Chancellor District Supervisor Gerald Childress has informed the county that he will resign from the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors effective Aug. 6, 2026, citing personal and health reasons. Supervisor Childress began his four-year term on the Board of Supervisors in January 2024.

At its coming meetings, the board will consider the date of a special election to fill the vacant seat and whether to make an interim appointment.

Spotsylvania County and the Board of Supervisors extend their appreciation to Supervisor Childress for his service to the county and wish him the best in the future.
