1. Why are you running?

Spotsylvania County deserves to have strong leaders that are passionate about improving our schools for the benefit of our student’s future.

2. What are the top three issues you want to address in office?

Top three campaign issues and your position on each:

  1. School Safety. I was the School Resource Officer who helped stop the active shooter plot at Riverbend High School in 2015, so I know the dangers that face our schools. We need to do everything we can to make our schools safer. This includes working more closely with our law enforcement partners, ensuring we have the best safety equipment and updating the appropriate policies.
  2. Teacher compensation: Our kids deserve the best education that we can give them, and our teachers are the foundation to provide that education. We must offer competitive compensation packages to retain and attract the best teachers.
  3. Professional and active representation: It is very important that our School Board model professional behavior for our students and the community. The partisan attacks, from both sides, that have plagued our board for the last several years have to stop. We must be able to work together, have productive conversations, take the votes and move on. Our elected representatives should also be available to hear from their community and be present at Board Meetings.

3. What is the number 1 issue on the minds of voters in Spotsylvania County?

In the school board race many voters want to get rid of the chaos that has been on our board so we can get back to improving our schools for the benefit of our kids.

4. What problems are you noticing in the county due to the Federal Government Shutdown?

I have not seen much impact myself

4. How should we improve education in County?

We need to get back to focus on the basics and provide our teachers with competitive pay so they don’t have to go elsewhere.

6. How can the County and or the State improve Mental Health Services?

There is a shortage of providers across the nation which makes for lengthy wait times to get an appointment for services.

7. How can we improve funding for Special Education and English Language Learners?

We need to be sure we are advocating at the state and federal level for funding.

8. What can we as a County do to create affordable housing for our Teachers, Police, Firefighters, first responders, and health care workers?

This topic is not one I’m knowledgeable about so I can’t answer that.

9. Is there anything else the voters should know about you?

I am currently a First Sergeant with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, where I have worked for the last 18 years serving and protecting this community. I had the pleasure of working in our schools as a School Resource Officer for 13 years, protecting our students and staff every day. My whole career has been about serving and protecting Spotsylvania citizens. I have worked in Spotsylvania for almost two decades and have a deep connection to our community. I have the training, education and leadership experience to address the needs of our students, staff, and community as a whole. I have lived my life in a manner that I could be a positive role model for our youth.
What are your reasons for seeking office at this time? Spotsylvania County deserves to have strong leaders that are passionate about improving our schools for the benefit of our student’s future.
