Spotsylvania, VA – Local youth, sponsored by DanceXpressions Performing Arts Center, will have Spotsylvania County and surrounding areas thinking pink when they present their production of Legally Blonde JR. beginning July 24. The fun, upbeat, pre-professional musical follows the adventures of our favorite sorority girl Elle Woods and her best dog, Bruiser, as she tries to win back her ex-boyfriend by earning a Harvard law degree.

Legally Blonde JR. is a comedic, light-hearted show that also explores serious themes of self-discovery, female empowerment, and personal independence. The story of Elle resonates with people of all ages, and the Jr. version makes it accessible to a younger audience. ” says Sharon Cooksey, the Producer and Choreographer. “We hope everyone in Spotsylvania and the neighboring areas are totally psyched to see the amazing cast and show.”

Legally Blonde Jr follows Delta Nu sorority president Elle Woods who seems to have it all: good looks, a relationship with the “campus catch,” and great taste in clothes. However, Elle’s life turns upside-down when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her in an attempt to start getting “serious” about his future and attend Harvard Law. Determined to win him back, Elle uses a lot of hard work and charm to get into Harvard Law to prove to Warner that she’s serious enough for him. Once at school, she is personally and professionally challenged by her peers, professors, and her ex, but with the help of some new friends, Elle realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

Legally Blonde JR. is based on the book by Amanda Brown and the hit Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon, which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy. Legally Blonde, The Musical opened at Broadway’s Palace Theatre in April 2007, starring Laura Bell Bundy as the iconic Elle Woods, and recently, Prime Video has added Elle, the popular prequel to Legally Blonde
into our favorite pink lawyer family of shows.
