Third Thursdays with the Delegate: Connecting with HD66 Communities

Delegate Nicole Cole’s “Third Thursdays with the Delegate” town hall series is creating opportunities for residents across House District 66 to come together, ask questions, learn about important issues, and connect directly with their elected representative.

Our first town hall, held in August, focused on education and the opportunities and challenges facing students, families, educators, and schools across the district. We held the conversation at Caroline Community Center and shared updates on education legislation, funding, higher education, and resources available to students and families. We were grateful to hear from local education leaders and community partners who helped provide valuable insight into the issues affecting our schools.

In September, we held our second town hall at Germanna Community College, focusing on affordability, healthcare, and housing. The discussion covered changes to Medicaid and SNAP eligibility and applications resulting from federal legislation, as well as resources and legislation related to healthcare, housing, childcare, and working families. We were grateful to be joined by Germanna Vice President of Health Sciences Dr. Nannette Graham, Virginia Department of Social Services Commissioner Duke Storen, Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association Executive Director Randy Grumbine, and author Drew Gallagher. Each brought a unique perspective and area of expertise, helping make for a thoughtful and engaging conversation.

These town halls are about more than discussing legislation. They are an opportunity to listen directly to the people of HD66, share information and resources, and make sure residents have a place to ask questions and make their voices heard.

We look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year. Our next Third Thursday town hall will take place in October and will focus on agriculture, an important part of the economy, history, and communities of both Spotsylvania and Caroline counties. We do our best to hold our town halls throughout HD66, alternating between Caroline and Spotsylvania counties to ensure we are able to reach and engage with constituents across the district. The next Town Hall will be held at the Caroline County YMCA on October 15th from 6- 8 p.m.

We hope you will join us for the next conversation and continue staying engaged with Delegate Cole and the HD66 community.
