SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY — Virginia State Police have issued a Senior Alert for an 84-year-old Spotsylvania County man who authorities say is missing and may be in danger because of a cognitive impairment.
James Robert Moorhead Jr. was last seen at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday leaving his residence on Andora Drive on foot, according to information released on behalf of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
Virginia State Police issued the Senior Alert at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the request of the Sheriff’s Office.
Moorhead is described as a Black man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 208 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.
Authorities said he may have been wearing blue jeans, a red or brown plaid shirt, a white baseball cap and black shoes when he disappeared.
State Police said Moorhead has a cognitive impairment and that his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety.
Virginia’s Senior Alert system is designed to assist law-enforcement agencies in locating missing adults over age 60 who have a cognitive impairment and whose disappearance is considered a credible threat to their health or safety.
The alert remained active Tuesday morning.
Anyone who sees Moorhead should call 911 immediately.
